to his own family's blog, now can you?

AMOS: Brother Jacob, It is said that even some among the English find it difficult to post to a blog. Amos is a smart boy. The
good lord will soon show him the proper way to blog.

JACOB: I certainly hope so, brother Amos. Rebecca is homlier than a cross-eyed ox. Your Joseph was our last chance. Let's hope the boy can learn to blog soon. Otherwise it's goodbye barnraisings and hello computer camps for our Rebecca.

I launched Bequia Suite on Monday at the start-up marina in Hull. I stripped all of the “topsides” (the white part) and repainted it this spring (as well as numerous other chores. You can tell from the blue tape on the back that I was working on right up until the time the boat hauler picked it up. The snazzy blue bottom paint was still drying when she splashed.

Despite appearances, there were lots of seams that had opened up during the 8 months out of the water and it leaked like a sieve when it went in. I had 5 pumps at the ready and 5 spares. It filled up so quickly that it took a friend and several guys from the marina about twenty minutes (seemed like hours) to help install and adjust enough pumps and a portable generator to get it under control. They then ferried me out to a dock to allow the wood to “make up”. The first night was a bit nerve-racking with about 20 gallons a minute coming in and needing to adjust and clean out pump filters, keep batteries charging, etc. After 18 hours it was down to 5 gallons a minute and after 3 days is now about 5 gallons an hour. Phew!!

I’m getting the sails on now and things tidied up; I should have here on the mooring by tomorrow. We should be able to go for a long-awaited first sail this weekend.

Well, you might want to keep that to yourself but news of family members is right up our ally. How are the newlyweds doing? How is XXXXXX? How's XXXXX (be nice!) Mom saw XXX on TV - could we get some background on that? What about Bekwee, Bequay, Buckwheat? Wherever it is you go down in the islands. Pics from there would put this blog on the map, baby!

No, I'm not letting you off that easily! I KNOW you take pictures! I KNOW you take digital pictures. It is easier than a Carolina cheerleader to upload pics to the blog.

FEEL MY WRATH. THE BLOGMEISTER HAS SPOKEN!!!!!

Bartlett-Yancey House July 3rd Cajun Party

Recently Yuanyuan and I, Steven, were driving up to Danville, VA to go to a museum up there that we've been to before. We stopped for lunch just the other side of Yanceyville (population nil, near the VA border) and came across the Bartlett Yancey house. Built in 1821 and named after a guy with two last names. He was a state senator, rich, philanthropic, Yancey County up in the NC mountains is named for him also. However, Yanceyville right there in Caswell County, it turns out, was named after his brother (ouch!). Anyway, we saw that our old pal Mel Melton and his Wicked Mojos were playing at "the pavillion" right out the back door of the house/restaurant. So, we came back on 7/3 with Vikki and these are some pics from that event.
