THE MATHERLY FAMILY BLOG AT A CROSSROADS!

Dear Friends & Family:

The Matherly Family Blog is about to enter a new dimension. Not one of sight or sound but of mind … or however Rod Serling used to put it. (For those of you too young to get the reference simply Google “The Twilight Zone”).

The first new thing is that I, as the Blogmeister and sole contributor have decided to widen the scope of the blog. Henceforth THE MATHERLY FAMILY BLOG will be open to the Setzer clan as well as Matherly clan, the Kelly clan, the Feigin clan the Cumpston clan, the Bieren clan, the Katz clan, and any and all persons who ever even sat next to any one of us on a bus. The intent is to open this little corner of the Blogosphere up to all of you who have been clamoring to be allowed to post but have so far been kept behind the velvet rope!

Those of you who have promised to post but who have not (and you know who you are) shall be bombarded with emails alerting you every time Yuanyuan burps, puts on a cute hat, or blows bubbles out of her nose. I will have captured it in digital form and posted it to this blog site and you must view it, fawn over it, and delight in it…..unless. UNLESS you post something to the blog of equal or greater interest.

A few notes on appropriate use of this blog. Angst is generally of interest to noone but the angstee. Deviant behavior is best kept under wraps. Pining is acceptable with proper literary allusions. But you can never go wrong with pictures of children (of any age) engaged in adorable behavior. Pictures of babies are always acceptable. New purchases (cars, boats, hats, clothing, houses) make great blog fodder. Animal pictures are prosaic but acceptable. Links to websites you love and want to share make great blog postings. High school graduation pictures, before and after shots, short cell phone captured video clips of your elders in compromising situations all make outstanding postage. Think of this blog as a vast canvass on which to drip your vision of the world. Ask not what the blog can give to you. Ask what you can give to the blog. Four score and seven years ago….but I digress.

Sung to an old Wood Guthrie tune (Too young? Google it!)

THANKS SOPHIE!

Thanks to our friends in CT Ian, Hillary, James, and Sophie.
Sophie sent Yuanyuan a huge box of clothes that are too small for her.
In this photo, Yuanyuan models a kimono that is only slightly too big for her.
She'll grow into it. Thank you so much, Sophie!

YUAN YUAN WORKING IN THE BLUEBERRY FIELDS

This is the farm where we picked blueberries recently. Just beyond the trees you can see and hear the megamall that went in a couple of years ago. I'm afraid the Herdon's won't be able to hold out much longer. But, it is pleasant, for now, to have them still there.

DOWN ON THE FARM!

We are in the egg biz now. We have six and six more will be added when the feed store gets the breed I want in. I've been working my butt off to build this enclosure from scrap wood I've had in the basement for years. We now have two parakeets, two love birds, two rabbits and six chickens. We don't ship eggs long distance so you'll have to come visit if you want to taste some.

Yuan Yuan knows that these are "working" chickens and she knows what that means when their egg production drops off. So, we aren't really naming the chicks but this one got tagged with "Little Chick" somehow.
